Injection Molding DFM Checklist

Инженерлік бағыттағы пластикалық компоненттерді таңдау, өнім туралы деректер және сызбаға негізделген RFQ қолдауы.

Frame the problem correctly

A DFM review should expose geometry that affects tooling, filling, cooling, ejection and inspection before steel is committed.

The goal is not to simplify every part; it is to identify features whose manufacturing consequences are easy to miss in CAD.

A useful DFM review records decisions, not just observations. If a wall is thick because it carries a thread insert, note that functional reason before proposing a core. If an undercut is required by an assembly latch, compare tool actions against alternative latch geometry. Each accepted change should be tied to the drawing revision so the toolmaker, buyer and designer are reviewing the same geometry.

Geometry, material and duty

Review wall transitions, draft, undercuts, ribs/bosses, gate options, parting lines, inserts, cosmetic zones and critical dimensions.

Where the risk appears

A generic checklist becomes ineffective when it does not distinguish functional constraints from negotiable geometry.

First-sample evidence

Record each DFM decision against the controlled drawing revision and carry accepted changes into the sample plan.

For Injection Molding DFM Checklist, close the DFM loop by updating the controlled CAD/drawing and sample plan. A recommendation that never reaches the released revision cannot be inspected consistently in production.

Production-release notes

Before requesting a price for injection molding dfm checklist, identify the current drawing revision, production quantity, material constraint and the feature that most strongly affects function. Ask the supplier to flag any deviation from those inputs in the quotation so technical alternatives stay visible.

Practical design review for this decision

Housing DFM starts with a functional wall map. Keep wall transitions deliberate, use ribs and bosses to carry defined loads, provide draft where the tool needs release, and consider how gate and ejection locations interact with cosmetic and dimensional surfaces. The supplier should review these decisions against the selected resin and tool layout.

Record the assumptions on the drawing or RFQ so the supplier can confirm them before quoting. When a value is unknown, identify it as an open engineering item rather than copying a generic catalogue number that may not match the assembly.

Verification worksheet

  • Nominal wall and transitions
  • Rib/boss load path
  • Draft and undercuts
  • Insert / fastener loads
  • Gate / parting / ejector restrictions
  • Flatness and critical datums

Use the first sample to close these points with both dimensional evidence and the relevant functional check. Any accepted deviation should be captured in the controlled revision before repeat production.

Compare the relevant product family or send the controlled drawing

Use the catalogue to compare the nearest geometry, or send the drawing with material, quantity, mating-part and acceptance information for a project-specific review.
