Parallel-shaft helical gear

Helical gears provide overlapping tooth engagement but introduce helix-hand conventions and axial forces. Bearing support, center distance and mating-gear geometry are part of the product definition.

For a helical pair, left- and right-hand gears must be matched correctly for the shaft arrangement. If the mating gear is metal, flank finish and edge condition can influence wear of the polymer gear. Bearing selection should also account for the axial component generated by the helix.

How to read the product image

The main image is a representative technical redraw because the available raster source could not be enlarged without losing reliable tooth-edge definition. The redraw preserves an involute helical-gear form and a visible twisted tooth trace, but it is not a production drawing. Final module or DP, pressure angle, helix angle, hand, tooth count, face width, bore, hub, material and tolerances must come from the released drawing and mating-gear definition.
