Intersecting-shaft gear pair
Plastic bevel gears transmit motion between intersecting shafts. The mating pair, shaft angle and mounting geometry must be specified together; a single gear drawing without the mate can leave critical geometry unresolved.
Because bevel gears are conical, face width and mounting position interact with tooth contact. Housing dimensions should locate both gears from stable datums. If only one gear is being replaced, the existing mate should be inspected for wear or damage before a new plastic gear is expected to restore the mesh.

Geometry and interface inputs for Plastic Bevel Gears
- Gear ratio and both tooth counts
- Module/DP, pressure angle and bevel system
- Shaft angle, mounting distance and face width
- Bore, hub and retention geometry
- Mating material and backlash requirement
Geometry reference: Intersecting-shaft bevel gear pair
Choosing the production route
Molded and machined routes are both possible depending on size, volume, material and accuracy requirements. The manufacturing route should be confirmed from the drawing rather than inferred from the product name.
Packaged process reference: Molded or machined configuration; confirm by project
Material direction: POM / polyacetal and nylon families are documented references

Application-specific design review
Incorrect mounting distance, shaft misalignment or an uncontrolled bore-to-tooth relationship can shift contact and raise noise or wear.
Typical use: Compact right-angle mechanisms, actuators, office equipment and electromechanical assemblies. The final material and tolerance plan should be checked against the load path, mating components and environment in that assembly.
First sample and inspection focus
Useful checks can include bore size, runout/concentricity, tooth form or composite mesh behavior and mounting dimensions, selected to match the drawing.
Quotation decision: Confirm ratio, module, tooth count, pressure angle, shaft angle, bore, mounting distance, mating gear and backlash requirement.

What to send for a Plastic Bevel Gears quotation
Send the latest drawing or CAD model together with production quantity and the application conditions that affect fit, wear or dimensional stability. If the part replaces an existing component, identify the features that must remain interchangeable and any known field issue the new part is intended to solve.
- Controlled drawing revision and 3D model when available
- Mating-part or transmission geometry
- Material requirement or service environment
- Sample quantity, production batch and expected annual demand
- Critical dimensions and functional acceptance method
